There are so many scars inside of Black men and women, it’s amazing that we continue to rise. We’ve got scars from childhood memories. Scars from past relationships. Scars from a history of abuse and enslavement. And scars from being minimized, diminished and denied. The funny thing about having scars is they are not always visible. And when you cannot see the places where you hurt, you run the risk of repeating dysfunctional patterns and lashing out at the very people you claim to love.
